Playoff Game 4: D-Backs vs Dodgers

Dodgers Team

The Dodgers season comes to an end. But we lost a good game to the Diamond Backs who are a really great defensive team. The Dodgers couldn’t string together a string of hits as the D-Backs made getting on base really tough.

Christian was caught out 3 times at bat. Only a few of our kids actually made it on base.

The Dodgers came a long way from the beginning of the season and were a contender at the end. It was my pleasure to coach the kids and hope to coach again next year! Stay tuned for pictures of the season…

Final Score: D-Backs 12 – Dodgers 4

Playoff Game 3: Dodgers vs Reds

Dodgers vs Reds

It was bound to happen…the Dodgers loose one to the Reds. The team doesn’t play well in the rain and their offense was off. There were a few too many unlucky breaks like base running errors and the Reds getting a couple double plays. The Zach’s both missing defensive plays that they would normally get.

Christian was 1 and 1 for the game and is continuing to not play well on defense. He’s playing scared and not going for the ball.

Our next game is Thursday (updated) at 5 pm and the D-Backs will be our likely opponent. There is a chance we will be playing against the Brewers. We are going to have to win all of our next 5 games to get the championship.

Well we are off to Christian’s kid birthday party at Pump-It-Up.

Final Score: Dodgers 5 – Reds 8

Playoff Game 2

And the winner is…the Dodgers!!! What a close game. Christian did a lot better tonight with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. But he has lost his fielding game. It seems that he is doing worse getting the ball now than at the begining of the season. Not sure what to do about fixing that. But we’ll work on it before Saturday morning’s game.

We are now 2-0 in the playoffs and await the winner of the Cardinals/Reds match up this evening. Our next game is Saturday, June 9th at 9 AM on Field 3.

Final Score: Orioles 15 Dodgers 17

Update: We will be playing the Reds

Dodgers vs Pirates Playoff Game 1

The Dodger’s win game 1 of the playoffs. It was a little tense being the first game of all the tournament games. The other team didn’t get the correct pitching machine out and caused a 15 minute delay. The coaches were calling the littlest things like all coaches needing baseball hats.

Christian was apparently nervous having a cheering section at his game for his birthday. He didn’t really have a good game and struck out his first two at bats. Which is very unusual for him. But he made up for it on the 3rd time to the play and hit the ball hard into deep center field.

Our friends the Stueckle’s, the Kraakmo’s, Laura Prewitt and our family including my mom, Grandma Julie, Uncle Andrew, Brenda and Uncle Ed all came cheer Christian on.

The Dodgers came to the game to play and did so by hitting the ball hard and scoring 10 runs to none in the first 2 innings. The defense was pretty good too. Our next game is Monday, June 4th at 5 pm.

After the game the team got to sing Happy Birthday to Christian!! Most of our friends and family from the game came to our house and had cake and ice cream. Christian got to show off his new bike that he got to choose at the store and he got to open some other presents.

Final score: Dodgers 16 – Pirates 5

2007 Dodgers

Dodgers finished out the season strong. The team is 10 and 5 in the regular season. Tonight the offense was really solid and they also had good defense.

Christian had an amazing hit in the 1st inning with a double. The kids on the other team were in awe with his hit. His teammate Teddy finally came out to play and got the game ball.

Final Score: Dodgers 18 – Giants 0

We lost our game with the D-Backs last Friday. The team didn’t have a good offensive night. The team only scored 3 with Kameron, Christian and Zach P. as our only runs. The D-Backs were a really good defensive team and look like they could be the champs this year.

Our 1st playoff game is Friday, June 1st at 5 pm against the Pirates. See you there!

Dodgers vs Brewers

The Dodgers are on a roll!! The team is 9 and 4 with 2 games to go in the regular season. After a rough start of the season, the team has settled in and is hitting the ball well. Defensively we still need to work on some fundamentals, but a few players on the team have really stepped it up.

The playoffs begin on Christian’s birthday, June 1st against the Pirates at 5 pm. We will be having a birthday celebration after the game at our house. The tourament is double elimination and I will keep the blog updated with scores and team game schedule.

Our next game is at 5 pm, Friday, May 18th vs the Diamond Backs. See you there.

Slugfest 2007

Dodgers win again! 8 and 4 for the regular season.

Christian had an off night. He had 1 single in the first inning and 1-3 out in the second because he slid into 1st base. For whatever reason, he didn’t run all the way though the bag. He struck out in the 4th and got tagged running to 1st in the 5th.

I wasn’t able to be the machine pitcher coach due to my back injury on Monday. I pulled a muscle when putting on socks in the morning and man it hurts. My doctor prescribed some muscle relaxant, but it makes me sleepy and I’ve missed 3 days of work. Oh well.

Tonight we are off to Christian’s music program at his school and the next game is tomorrow vs the Brewers at 7 pm.

Final Score: Angels 6 – Dodgers 19

Dodgers vs Royals

Dodgers win! We are now 7 and 4.  The team is starting to gel, but there are still a couple players who need to work on their game.

Next game is Wednesday at 5 pm vs the Angels.

Final Score: Dodgers 16 – Royals 3

Pirates vs Dodgers

The Dodgers win despite not being focused this evening.  Maybe it was something in the drinking water, but most of the kids were in la la land…It was like T-ball all over again.

Christian has been solid again at the plate with 2 hits and 1 RBI.  There are a couple things he needs to work on like swinging all the way through a hit.  Once he starts doing this, he’ll get more power and hit it into deep outfield.  He also really needs to work on accuracy in throwing the ball to his teammates.  He seems to through to me fine, but is all over the place anytime else.

Final Score: Pirates 5 – Dodgers 11

Next game is Saturday at 11 AM vs the Royals.  See you there!

Score Card

After the rowdiness in the dugout during last Sunday’s game, coach Kevin had a talk with the team about staying focused. The kids responded by going out and winning the game with confidence. Every player including the weaker ones stepped up to the plate and produced.

I was appalled with the manager of the other team. He was the quote the rules to the other team type of guy and called us on every little thing. Yet he took every close call that benefited his team. We could have debated a few calls…In the end I didn’t really care if we won or loss, I just wanted to play a fair game and get the game over with.

He even called the rules wrong for weekday games and started the 6th inning an hour 36 minutes after the game start. We are not suppose to start an inning an hour and a half after the game starts. This turned into a late 2 hour game on a school night and all because his team was down 17-10. They didn’t even help clean up the field when the game was over. We didn’t get home until 9:30 pm.  I hope we don’t have to play against them in the playoffs.

Little League Day is this Saturday and we don’t have a game until next Monday at 5 pm against the Pirates. See you there!
